ClearEdge3D Enhances Edgewise

  1. ClearEdge3D will showcase their automated feature extraction software at SPAR 2010.
  2. EdgeWise can now run in batch mode and extract ground surfaces.
  3. They are also going to offer a 64 bit version.

One of the more innovative technologies that will be showcased at SPAR 2010 next week in Houston, TX will be from ClearEdge3D. Their EdgeWise software caught a lot of people’s attention at last year’s conference. Extracting CAD objects from a point cloud is still essentially a manual process. EdgeWise offers the ability to automate this process, at least for planar surfaces. That’s where the technology was the last time I checked in with this early stage start-up.

From a recent press release it appears that they have been listening to customers and making some important enhancements. These include batch processing and multiple-scan “ground extraction” capabilities, which sounds like they have moved beyond just building faces. The other item of note was the announcement of a 64 bit version. This is certain to provide a significant productivity boost.

So I am off to SPAR tomorrow morning. I hope to keep everyone informed and to make a number of new contacts. I look forward to seeing you there.
