Conferences

If you are looking for an opportunity to learn more about laser scanning, and/or talk to potential customers, vendors, or employers then it might make sense to attend one of the upcoming, important industry conferences. If you plan ahead, you can hold down the costs and get a lot done in a short amount of time. Blogging is no match for face to face meetings.

The following are in order of occurrence:

February 20 – 23, 2009 ACSM (American Congress of Surveying and Mapping) Conference 2009; Salt Lake City, Utah (Bring the boards). There is an Intro to Mobile Mapping class and Increasing Survey Value with LIDAR.

February 23 – 25, 2009 Trimble Dimensions 2009; Las Vegas, Nevada. There will be numerous presentations involving laser scanning applications.

March 9 -13, 2009 ASPRS (American Society of Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing) 2009 Annual Conference; Baltimore, MD. This is the 75th anniversary and it will include a workshop on a Do-It-Yourself Approach to Image Processing, LIDAR for Vegetation Assessment, and numerous technical LIDAR sessions. ASPRS is also the keeper of the LAS data standard. The subcommittee will have a meeting on Tuesday March 10 at the conference.
