Merrick Announces New Release of MARS

If you are looking for production grade LiDAR data processing software the new release of Merrick’s MARS product is worth your time to investigate. Version 6 has just been released, and I asked an early supporter of this blog, Bill Emison, the Product Manager for the highlights:

  • Visualize & process airborne, terrestrial & mobile LiDAR datasets
  • Natively supports LiDAR (LAS), imagery (RGB & hyperspectral) and GIS (vector) datasets
  • Support for 32-bit & 64-bit Windows operating systems
    • Multiprocessing allows efficient utilization of PC hardware
  • 3D coordinate transformation tools provided by Blue Marble Geographics
    • Support for LizardTech’s LiDAR Compressor technology
  • Robust data visualization capabilities
    • Automated & manual data classification tools
    • DEM & topographic data generation functions
  • LiDAR data accuracy compliance reporting
    • Batch data import/export functions
    • Support for LiDAR data in Lat/Lon (geographic) format

I know there are many man-years of effort that have gone into the development of this software. The multi-platform support is of particular interest with the surge in mobile scanning.
