DTMs from Full Wave Form LiDAR

1. The Vienna Univ. of Technology is offering a workshop this week about exploiting full waveform data.
2. The course description indicates that the use of full waveform can lead to greater accuracy in processing DTMs.
3. LAS 1.3 was recently approved with the main purpose being to support full waveform data.

Quality Control of Derived LiDAR Data

2. A mathematical methodology is being proposed to assess the quality of derived lidar data and the associated system parameters.
3. The goal of this important research is to produce a set of standards for judging the quality of the derived lidar data.

New ASPRS LiDAR Procurement Guidelines

1. The ASPRS in conjunction with ACSM and MAPPS has developed a new guideline for the procurement of professional services including LiDAR mapping.
2. This is the result of over 3 years of work, establishing qualifications, not price as the primary method of selection.
3. The Guidelines can be used as a resource to educate novice customers about the technology and process, while reducing the likelihood of a low ball price being submitted.
