Spar 2010 is going to be held in the The Woodlands (Houston), TX February 8 – 10, 2010.
Last year’s highly successful “bootcamps” will be expanded this year.

1. Quick notes – there is a mobile mapping LinkedIn group forming and it was recommended that ASPRS offer the LiDAR certification.
2. Laser scanning is being incorrectly associated with developing a building information model.
3. Owners need to understand the limitations of the technology.

1. We have to present the user benefits of laser scanning in non-technical terms.
2. The primary deliverable of a laser scan is a 3D model – not a physical one a virtual one.
3. By extracting intelligence from the scan data you can create a building information model or BIM.

1. Neo-GIS is the less technical, consumer side of the use of the technology.
2. The GSA 3D-4D-BIM program is perhaps an example of how best to position laser scanning technology.
3. Is it too early for neo-laser scanning, or could we save 20 to 30 years of ramp up?
