FIELD SURVEY – THE ROUTE LIFT UP TO LANGKOFELSCHARTE
FIELD SURVEY OF THE ROUTE OF THE LIFT UP TO LANGKOFELSCHARTE
Thomas Fontana of Alto Drones is enthusiastic about the performance of his RIEGL miniVUX-1UAV LiDAR sensor!
“Without this scanner, it would not be possible to work so fast, efficiently, precisely and cost-effectively,” he exclaimed about his miniVUX-1UAV.
The following project at the Sella Pass in Val Gardena, South Tyrol, was to be implemented for a customer as quickly as possible. The lift route on the Langkofelscharte (2,685m) is approximately 1.4 km and a height difference of 500m. The terrain survey covers about a width of 80m.
While using UgCS with a connected ADS-B receiver, a corresponding flight was carried out in order to be able to record the rescue helicopter, which is unfortunately frequently found there. The flight was carried out with the Soleon LasCO x8flat UAV, equipped with the RIEGL miniVUX-1UAV, an Applanix APX-20 and 2x Sony A6000 cameras. In three flights of approx. 12 minutes each, 4 stripes were flown over the entire length.
Without a single control point, deviations of less than 5 cm in height were achieved at points at the mountain and valley stations measured terrestrially by an independent surveyor.
“As it had to go very fast as usual! Therefore, the very best was the amazement of the customer when we were able to hand over the precise point cloud 24 hours after receipt of the order,” Fontana proudly stated.
We here at RIEGL are always happy to see satisfied users!
