Blogs
Welcome to the Lidar News blog page. We currently host “In the Scan“ – one of the world’s leading 3D laser scanning and lidar blogs with over 3000 posts over 9 years.
We are interested in your comments, and if you have a post or idea for a new blog please let us know – we might be interested in featuring it.
Enjoy.
I am interested in locating equipment manufacturers/integrators that will assemble a vehicle roof top assembly for mobile Lidar on vehicles for sale or lease.

Apologies all, here’s the correct edited version:
The Geospatial & Space Technology Department, School of Engineering, College of Architecture & Engineering, University of Nairobi;
wishes to get blogs about it’s programs and welcomes collaboration with all LiDAR related service providers, industry and academia, using the listed email address below,
and its blog: https://geospatialuon.wordpress.com and also for all issues, hot topics, and all lidarnews.com articles
I would love to buy stock in lidar companies which are the tops in technology, but also in
lidar manufacturers which are defnitely showing innovations and creative applications.
Any recommendations on publicly held lidar companies, US and overseas?
Thank you.
Hi there i have a NCTech ISTAR Fusion for sale offers around £ 2500.
sudhir techno ranked among top LiDAR survey Companies in eastern India offers services include lidar mapping and LiDAR processing Services
Landfills have largely been left out of the geospatial and drone boom. Civil Tracker is working to empower even the smallest rural landfills to improve their environmental operations and use space efficiently. We would love to share how we’re using permanent GCPs, small UAVs and a cloud platform to simplify compaction optimization. Would this interest LiDAR News?
Sure, please send email to editor@lidarnews.com
Retired Mechanical Design Engineer looking for P/T working reviewing lidar images for archaeological or similar work. This would apparently be the only kind of work from home type work that I would be able to do. Any ideas or suggestions greatly appreciated. Thank you.
I have been flying commercials for the 2 years and would like to know how to become quaualified in Lidar
Not sure what you mean by “qualified,” but I would say you need to find a company that is flying lidar.
Influence of High point cloud density in LiDAR classification effort
We would like to know is there any impact in ground classification effort, if point cloud density increases from 10-20 per sq. m?
We are processing the data in tscan/tmodel with semi-automatic and manual methods. Please let us know what would be the additional effort if point density increases from 10-20
Thanks in advance
_Govardhan
Actually, in our experience, the macros in tscan work better on higher point density lidar which, in turn makes the manual effort easier
3D-robust LiDAR’s qualities in enabling wide-area scanning with unprecedented accuracy have made it popular in robotics and autonomous vehicle systems. The increased acceptance of imaging technology employing 3D approach to record geospatial scans for agricultural, military, forest, and civil infrastructure is the primary driver of LiDAR market growth.
I saw a blog on CivilGEO about how the mapping was done before LiDAR came, then of-course the present and what’ll happen in the future.
flight path of drone lidar data doesn’t alight with the rest of the data. Anyone has any ideas why? How to fix? Will we have to re-fly?
Nice post
