The Florida Department of Transportation has just released their ” TERRESTRIAL MOBILE LiDAR SURVEYING & MAPPING GUIDELINES”. Adapted from the CALTRANS Chapter 15 specification, Florida sets up 3 levels of survey based on accuracy requirements.

Type A is for high accuracy projects such as design engineering and as-built. Type B is for medium accuracy projects such as detailed asset inventory and earthwork and Type C is for low accuracy projects such as planning and transportation statistics.

It’s an important reference and further indication of the need for standards.
