The iPhone 16 Pro teardown is an event that many people have been looking forward to. At the end of this week, the website iFixit took care of disassembling this year’s iPhone models, which has long-term experience in this field and does a very high-quality job. What did the analysis of the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max reveal?

From an article in All About Apple by Amaya Toman.

iPhone 16 Pro (Max) battery separability

Unlike the base iPhone 16 model, the “Pro” variants do not have the same simplified battery removal process. Apple it still uses traditional adhesive with tear tape on more expensive iPhones. However, access to the internal parts is easier because it is done through the back of the phone, and not through the display, which could easily be damaged. Apple although the ‌iPhone 16 Pro‌ models, like the basic ‌iPhone 16‌ model, wrapped the battery in metal, but surprisingly, the metal case is missing from the battery of the ‌iPhone 16 Pro Max model. The reason for this decision is not yet clear, iFixit describes it as “confusedH.

Easier access to LiDAR scanner, antenna relocation and USB-C port

The LiDAR scanner is now more accessible for repairs. In previous ‌iPhone‌ Pros, it was located below the main camera. Although the camera modules are almost identical, they are not completely interchangeable due to different cable lengths and screws located in different positions inside each model. Apple moved the antenna for this year’s mmWave models due to the new camera control button. In the ‌iPhone 16 Pro‌, it is located in a hollow space near the top of the device. iFixit warns that the mmWave signal could still suffer due to the titanium frame of the ‌iPhone 16 Pro‌ models. Although removing the USB-C port is significantly simplified, iFixit points out that Apple does not offer spare USB-C ports. Also, the motherboard can only be removed after removing the top of the speaker, which is a significant improvement over the previous design.
