Kyocera Camera-Lidar Fusion
CES 2025 has delivered some exciting developments in the lidar industry. Earlier this week, we reported on a strategic partnership between Aurora, NVIDIA, and Continental.

Another exciting development – the first ever camera-lidar fusion sensor unveiled by Kyocera. This has a number of benefits, including the elimination of parallax error, which occurs due to different perspectives between the camera and lidar sensors. By using a single lens for the camera and lidar, there is only one perspective, thus – no parallax!

That’s not all. This sensor has the highest irradiation density ever acheived at 0.045 degrees. This enables long-distance and high-precision object detection, a critical feature for autonomous vehicles.

This sensor also claims to have an improved MEMS mirror with greater durability. The details on this feature that we have been able to find are vague.

CES 2025 has been exciting for lidar, and technology in general.
