The Winter Garden Police Department (WGPD), which is the local police force where the RIEGL USA Headquarters calls home in Florida, recently purchased a RIEGL VZ-600i Terrestrial Laser Scanner for their CSI & Forensic units. As a small regional department, they were in need of a tool that could have various use cases, both in Crime Scene and Traffic Homicide Investigations. The RIEGL VZ-600i is the perfect multi-faceted scanner that can be a shared resource to their Traffic Homicides Investigations Unit and also the Crime Scene Investigations Unit. Before taking delivery of the VZ-600i, WGPD completed training at the RIEGL USA headquarters from experienced practitioners and technicians, where they learned how to use crime scene reconstruction data and learn the post-processing workflows. With the use of this top-of-the-line terrestrial scanner, WGPD is able to get more precise data at crime scenes that makes the difference between doubt and quantifiable evidence.
