This year we’re excited to welcome speakers from a variety of digital backgrounds: to name but a few, Vince Rossi from the Smithsonian Institution in Washington will talk about the digitisation of the US Government’s collections and animation and visual effects company Tippett Studios, whose credentials include sequences in the Star Wars and Jurassic Park, will join us in Stirling from California to explore how animation can help reconstruct the past. Anthony Geffen of multi award-winning production company Atlantic Productions will share his work in immersive storytelling on projects with David Attenborough and Professor Stephen Hawking, and the team from the Forbidden City will explain how they are deploying digital technology to aid interpretation and accessibility. If that wasn’t enough, Maxime Durand from gaming giant Ubisoft will share how they’re taking Assassins Creed beyond gaming and into learning, while advances in virtual reality (VR), 3D on the web and special effects will be explored by a variety of speakers from Sketchfab, Historic Environment Scotland and Glasgow School of Art. Louise Brand from 4D Max will talk about their work in capturing the real world through 3D scanning and making it part of films, from Batman to Guardians of the Galaxy, Gravity to Game of Thrones.
