NOAA Digital Coast Celebrates Two Major Milestones
NOAA’s Digital Coast provides coastal communities with access to the data, tools, and training needed to increase coastal resilience. This year, the site celebrates two major milestones, as the Digital Coast’s Data Access Viewer recently processed its one millionth custom data job while simultaneously celebrating its 25th year of providing lidar data. The Data Access Viewer allows users to customize data by selecting from various file formats, projections, and datums, currently serving up over 40 trillion lidar points, 220 terabytes of imagery, and decades of coastal land cover data, including the new, high-resolution, one-meter land cover data. Partnerships have long been key for the Digital Coast, and the viewer exemplifies this, serving data from local municipalities, states, other NOAA line offices, and across the federal government.
