Lumos UAV LiDAR – First commercial deployment
First commercial deployment for Lumos new generation UAV LiDAR
Newcastle, Australia, October 28th 2021 – Nextcore’s Lumos next generation UAV LiDAR has achieved a first commercial deployment, with Australia’s Secure Energy.
Lumos will be used to conduct high detail surveys of powerlines in Australia, enabling drone-based surveys on a new 700km transmission line extending from Wagga Wagga in New South Wales state to the South Australia state border, part of TransGrid’s EnergyConnect project and part of Australia’s renewable energy transition.
Lumos provides exceptional precision and accuracy from high up”, said Ashley Cox, COO at Nextcore. “Lumos delivers an RMS of 30mm at heights of up to 120 metres and fits most popular UAVs, making it ideal for survey of remote transmission lines.”
Lumos will be used for survey while the line is built, improving safety for Secure Energy staff working in remote and dangerous conditions, with significant cost savings compared to traditional survey methods.
Secure Energy is the joint venture of Elecnor, a leading European construction and operation company, and Clough Group, an Australian company delivering sustainable high performing assets for the infrastructure, resources and energy industries.
