Crowd gathered at the RIEGL hangar opening event, featuring aircraft and flight demonstrations.
RIEGL recently celebrated the opening of its new airborne operations hangar in Krems, Austria. Located just a short drive from the company’s global headquarters in Horn, the RIEGL hangar welcomed over 750 guests, including employees, partners, and local government representatives. The event marked a key step in RIEGL’s continued investment in airborne LiDAR capabilities and regional infrastructure.

The hangar will serve as the central base for RIEGL’s airborne operations, currently supporting two aircraft—a Diamond DA62 MPP and a Cessna T206H—equipped with RIEGL’s high-performance LiDAR systems. Designed for system integration, calibration, and testing, the facility enables faster deployment and enhances the company’s ability to deliver precision airborne solutions worldwide.

“This new hangar is more than just a building—it’s a strategic cornerstone in our mission to deliver world-class airborne LiDAR solutions,” said Dr. Johannes Riegl, founder and CEO of RIEGL. “It enables us to bring even greater precision, efficiency, and flexibility to our airborne operations, while also providing a dedicated space for innovation, testing, and collaboration. We are proud to celebrate this milestone with our team and partners, and we look forward to the new opportunities this facility will unlock for our clients around the world.”

Guests at the opening enjoyed helicopter rides, flight demonstrations, and guided tours of the RIEGL hangar, as well as up-close views of RIEGL’s aircraft and sensor technology. The €6 million investment in the facility—split between infrastructure and airborne equipment—underscores RIEGL’s commitment to staying at the forefront of LiDAR innovation and delivering value to clients through operational excellence.
