SurvTech Solutions is excited to announce the acquisition of the Leica Chiroptera 5, a cutting-edge topographic/bathymetric (topo/bathy) LiDAR system designed for precise topographic and bathymetric surveys. This advanced system, which will be mounted on a fixed-wing aircraft, enhances our ability to deliver high-quality data for diverse projects, from coastal mapping to inland waterway and riverine analysis.

The Leica Chiroptera 5 is renowned for seamlessly integrating topographic and bathymetric LiDAR, enabling highly accurate mapping of both land and underwater environments. With its state-of-the-art technology, we are positioned to serve clients with enhanced efficiency and accuracy in various applications, including environmental monitoring, beach renourishment, infrastructure development, and disaster response.

Compared to previous models, the Chiroptera 5 offers a 40% increase in point density and a 20% improvement in water depth penetration, allowing for more detailed and accurate mapping.

In addition to the LiDAR capabilities, the system includes a RCD30 4 band multispectral camera from Leica, further broadening the scope of our data collection. The multispectral imaging capabilities allow for detailed vegetation, water quality, and land cover analysis, providing invaluable insights for environmental and agricultural studies.

The Chiroptera also offers an efficient workflow with almost real-time data processing. Upon landing, an operator or technician can quickly quality control (QC) the dataset before demobilizing it from the project site.

“Investing in the Leica Chiroptera 5 aligns with our mission to stay at the forefront of geospatial innovation,” said David O’Brien, the president of SurvTech Solutions. “This system is like the last piece in the puzzle because we perform large amounts of topographic LiDAR and multi-beam sonar. The Chiroptera 5 significantly expands our aerial mapping capabilities and supplements our bathymetric capabilities, ensuring we continue to meet the evolving needs of our clients with efficiency, precision, and reliability.”

With this addition, SurvTech Solutions reaffirms its commitment to leveraging the latest technology to provide comprehensive geospatial solutions. The Leica Chiroptera 5 is a testament to our dedication to delivering accurate, efficient, cost-effective mapping services.
