Webinar: Leveraging Pocket Lidar for Construction Inspection and Digital As-Builts – Phase 1

The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) will present a webinar to share recently completed research on Leveraging Pocket Lidar for Construction Inspection and Digital As-Builts – Phase 1. The introduction of small, handheld, consumer-grade lidar systems (pocket lidar) has the potential to bring lidar technology to the masses, thereby breaking down the cost barrier and enabling routine construction inspection. This applied research project evaluated whether Apple Inc.® consumer lidar sensor can be an efficient and effective tool for routine use in construction project monitoring, supporting building information modeling (BIM) initiatives, and creating digital as-builts for highway construction projects. An overview of the project and select use cases will be discussed and presented.
Note: The session will be recorded; but you must be registered in order to receive the recording information afterward.
FHWA is committed to providing equal access to this event for all participants. There will be automated closed captioning provided via the Zoom for Govt. platform.
