Woolpert Australia, a premier architecture, engineering, geospatial (AEG), and strategic consulting firm, has invested in the state-of-the-art RIEGL VZ-600i terrestrial laser scanner and added this new addition to their survey suite. This acquisition and collaboration between Woolpert Australia and RIEGL Australia highlights their dedication to utilizing the latest in laser scanning technology to remain competitive and industry leading in the 3D laser scanning and modelling space.

The RIEGL VZ-600i is designed for ultimate performance, versatility, and mobility, making it an ideal choice for both static and mobile scanning applications. Its rapid data acquisition and processing capabilities enable Woolpert Australia to achieve high productivity and accuracy across a wide range of projects.

Glenne Blyth, Managing Director of RIEGL Australia, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration: “We are excited to support Woolpert in delivering accurate and reliable results across their projects in the Asia-Pacific region with their new VZ-600i. This advanced system represents the latest in 3D laser scanning technology, providing significant productivity gains and broadening potential scanning applications for the Woolpert Survey team.”

Woolpert’s deployment of the VZ-600i has already proven transformative, particularly in their work within the New South Wales Renewable Energy Zone. The scanner’s ability to perform rapid, high-precision surveys without the need for traditional scanning control has significantly reduced on-site time and minimized disruptions. Additionally, RIEGL’s automated vehicle license plate and face blurring software ensures privacy, which is crucial for Woolpert Australia’s clients.

Joe Culliver, Woolpert Australia’s Technical Director – Survey, highlighted the benefits: “The Real-Time Kinematic unit means scans can be natively geolocated, reducing the need for traditional scanning control and minimizing on-site time. Rapid scanning speeds have halved workflows by simultaneously capturing lidar 3D point clouds and images.”

Investing in the latest generation of RIEGL terrestrial laser scanners means Woolpert Australia is investing in their clients’ project success and leveraging the best in technology to deliver data-driven geospatial insights across the Asia-Pacific and beyond.

RIEGL looks forward to future collaboration with Woolpert Australia, continuing to push the boundaries of what’s possible in the field of laser scanning and 3D modeling.
