Research Fab Microelectronics Develops LiDAR Solutions

The Research Fab Microelectronics (FMD) in Berlin, Germany is the single access point for customers to a broad variety of technological competencies in the field of LiDAR solutions. This significant investment by Fraunhofer Microelectronics in cooperation with the Leibniz Institutes FBH and IHP, is all about being positioned for the future in autonomous vehicle, industrial lidar fabrication and much more.

Christoph Galle, Program Manager contacted me last week wondering if Lidar News readers would be interested in the news about the new Research Fab Microelectronics located in Germany. I told him I am sure you would be as I am not aware of a facility offering this kind of expertise for lidar-based technology anywhere in the world.

Heads up! Chris tells me that they have a huge base of knowledge, patents and processes that they could to transfer. Sounds like a great opportunity to leverage this knowledge base.

Two of the lidar technologies that the Research Fab Microelectronics has expertise in is flash LiDAR and MEMS-based scanning LiDAR systems. Their experts research the powerful individual components of LiDAR systems in different wavelength ranges and provide solutions for the various functional principles.

In addition, they have many years of experience in important complementary topics such as RADAR, camera, sensor data fusion as well as heterointegration, in order to work with customers to develop the best solution for their respective application .
